Purpose

To become part of a multi-tasking multi-skilled technical and production crew.

To support the delivery of shows and events in the venue with specific reference to scenic, props and performer flying operation. To assist the team with the smooth delivery of show and events and maintaining show standards. To execute scene changes, cueing performers and supporting the Show Rigger with clearances and setting of apparatus. To ensure all scenic and prop elements are maintained and also to provide assistance when necessary to other technical departments.

Entertainment content

Two 40min shows in the Carousel Lounge. The shows contain a mix of singers, dancers, aerial, and ground-based circus performances.

Shows are performed twice nightly 6 days a week.

Provide technical and stage support for additional events in the venue.

Additional POP-UP entertainment, street theatre and a choreographed parade.

Responsibilities

Support the Company Stage Manager to manage the rehearsal and show schedule. To ensure all staging and prop elements are set and maintain appropriately.

Assist the Show Rigger with regular checks and inspections of all show winches and stage machinery lifts and revolves etc. Following Anystage induction guidelines for inspections and checks based on industry standards and manufactures advice.

To assist the LX operator in the daily maintenance check of LX and SFX systems as required.

To act as a spotter for all aerial acts throughout rehearsal and performance, being prepared to call a stop where any safety concerns are raised or noticed.

The Technical Stage Manager may be required to rig apparatus during the show including choreographed scene changes.

To participate in recue procedures as directed by the Show Rigger. To perform scene changes as required.

To ensure all performers are ready and in position in a timely manner before all rehearsals and shows.

To assist with ensuring show standards are maintained at all times and report all issues to the Company Stage Manager.

To maintain props and scenic elements, including minor repairs.

To ensure all performers follow the appropriate maintenance schedule for costumes and report any issues to the Company Stage Manager.

To ensure all props and costumes are stored appropriately and kept tidy.

To keep an inventory log of all Prop/costume/makeup consumables, and request supplies to the CSM in a timely manner.

Support the team in assisting with extra events in the venue or other pop up and street theatre events delivered by the performers.

To lead handover to other team members and instruct where necessary, reporting any possible training needs that may become evident to maintain standards.

To train other technicians to follow the TSM show track if required in emergency.

Be prepared to train to deputise for the Company Stage Manager and Call the show if required. To support rescue and recovery operations. And all emergency procedures

Follow required onboard safety policy and procedures.

Carry out any other duties normally expected of a Technical Stage Manager

Support the team in assisting with extra events in the venue or other pop up and street theatre events delivered by the cast. This will include stage support, setting up equipment, basic sound, LX, AV support.

Requirements

Professional Compliance:

Stage management experience

Experience of or good knowledge of show calling

Stage management training at a recognised theatre school Language Capability – English at C1 Level

This is a Seafarers Employment Agreement and hours of work are regulated under the Maritime Labour Convention.
