Purpose

To become part of a multi-tasking multi-skilled technical and production crew.

With specific responsibility for all theatre machines and automation elements motion in accordance with safety standard requirements and checklists set by manufacturer and equipment supplier.

Reports to: Venue Technical Manager

Direct reports to: Anystage Head of Production

Entertainment content

Two 40min shows in the Carousel Lounge. The shows contain a mix of singers, dancers, aerial, and ground-based circus performances.

Shows are performed twice nightly 6 days a week.

Provide technical and stage support for additional events in the venue.

Additional POP-UP entertainment, street theatre and a choreographed parade.

Responsibilities

To approve and be satisfied that the automation system is in correct working order for human flying conditions in accordance with maker’s O&M manuals and normal show safe working procedures.

To organise and lead automation checklists, rehearsal and training preparations and to follow correct operational protocols when in training, rehearsal or technical sessions.

To lead daily, weekly, monthly checks by inspecting stage machinery and performer flying machines and reporting immediately any technical deficiencies, loss, damage, or no-fly conditions to the Venue Technical Manager.

To execute 1st level equipment preventative maintenance and troubleshooting plus scheduled cleaning.

To programme automation cues for show purposes.

To operate the control desk for all shows and events as required.

To support rescue and recovery operations. And all emergency procedures.

To support the Show Director and Performers during all rehearsals and shows.

To support all rehearsals and training sessions as required and communicated by the Company Stage Manager.

To train at least one other member of the technical team to run shows and to learn to be an automation operator.

Support the team in assisting with extra events in the venue or other pop up and street theatre events delivered by the cast. This will include stage support, setting up equipment, basic sound, LX, AV support.

To learn at least one cover role for the shows which could be, show caller, LX operator, Stage Manager or Sound operator. Be prepared to do this role in the event of illness or injury.

To coordinate and support Shoreside team assistance and remote calls, inspections and survey visits from both external companies and on-board teams.

Follow required onboard safety policy and procedures.

To be flexible in the role to support the team in the delivery of all content.

Requirements

Professional Compliance:

Advanced knowledge of automation safety standards, rescue operations, rope access, man riding and human flying equipment requirements, safety regulations, terminology. –

Experience of programming and operating automation systems for Performer Flying in show conditions.

Advanced ability to assist during performers and acts preparation covering every automation technical aspect including harnesses wearing or performers’ training. –

Advanced experience with automation daily checks, referencing operations, show programming, show terminology, and stage directions. –

Ability to comply with automation related risk assessment and hazard analysis studies. IT/Equipment expertise:

Superuser – TAIT introduction to automation training. Superuser – Relevant automation training certificate. Language Capability: English at C2 Level

This is a Seafarers Employment Agreement. Hour of work will be under the Maritime Labour Convention regulations.
